Welcome to Blacketyside Farmshop. Our speciality is soft fruit and we have been complimented on the quality of our raspberries and strawberries many times since we came to farm at Blacketyside from Northern Ireland over 20 years ago. There were 5 acres of strawberries and 5 acres of raspberries when we arrived on the farm and we knew nothing about soft fruit, having come from a stock farming background, so we had a steep learning curve in the first few years. Our first experience of retailing was in June 1993 when we set out a garden shed at the bottom of the farm road in the hope that passing traffic would stop to buy fruit. The following year we invested in a portacabin on wheels which gave us more space to display our fruit & this served us well for 14 years. We are constantly evolving and in 2002 we opened a very small farm shop in a barn at the steading to test the market. It soon became clear that the shop needed to be located near the road so in November 2007 after battling with planners we opened the farmshop and tearoom on the current site. The extension which opened in December 2011 has enabled us to expand our product range and we were delighted when Steve Mitchell, farmer and butcher, agreed to join us allowing our customers to enjoy his great selection of Puddledub Buffalo, Aberdeen Angus, Jacob Lamb, Puddledub Pork and much more. In September 2013 we were again delighted when the Green Room florists joined us. They have stunning arrangements for all occasions and budgets.
